Privacy Policy
How SonaSync handles profiles, convention visibility, encounters, badges, and discovery data.
Overview
SonaSync connects real convention attendance with social profiles. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you control.
We keep data minimal where we can. We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Account data: email, username, display name, password (handled by our auth provider).
- Profile data: bio, pronouns, photos, banners, gallery items, looks, pins, themes, and interaction preferences.
- Convention data: attendance, visibility settings, meetups you host, and catalog conventions you add.
- Encounter data: badge scans and saved crossings, including optional private notes you keep in your journal.
- Usage data: basic logs needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
- Age verification: date of birth for the 16+ requirement. Birthdays are never shown publicly.
Profile and convention visibility
You choose what appears on your public profile, including looks, gallery visibility, convention attendance visibility, and meetup listing settings.
Interaction states and accessibility tags are meant to be read on the floor. Treat them as public convention signals unless a feature is labeled private.
Encounter journals are private to you by default. You may mark individual crossings public if you opt in.
Badges and QR sharing
- Badge mode and QR codes link to your profile or badge view.
- Scanning creates encounter records for both parties when logging is enabled.
- Do not share someone else's QR or profile to impersonate them.
Search and discovery
Discovery features may show attendees, meetups, and convention presence based on visibility settings and active convention context.
We do not expose your exact real-time GPS location by default. Location fields you enter (meetup spots, notes) are controlled by what you publish.
Storage and security
Data is stored with our hosting and database providers using industry-standard access controls.
We retain account data while your account is active. You may request deletion subject to legal and safety retention needs.
Age information
We require users to be 16 or older.
Date of birth is stored to enforce that requirement. It is not displayed on profiles, badges, or search results.
Accounts that do not meet the age requirement are restricted.
Your choices
- Edit or delete profile content from your dashboard.
- Adjust convention and meetup visibility per event.
- Control encounter visibility and journal entries.
- Sign out or request account deletion through support channels we provide.
Contact
Privacy questions or requests can be sent to the support contact listed on the SonaSync site.
We will update this policy when practices change. Check the date at the top of this page.
