Community Guidelines
Convention-native standards for respect, consent, safety, and content on SonaSync.
The spirit of the floor
SonaSync is for convention weekends: hallways, panels, photoshoots, dealer tables, and late-night hangouts.
These guidelines are how we keep the platform welcoming, consent-aware, and safe without turning into corporate lecture mode.
When in doubt, act like a good con guest.
Consent and boundaries
- Read interaction states on profiles and badges. Friendly, Cautious, and Do Not Approach mean different things.
- If someone asks you to ask first for photos, hugs, or chat, do that before you engage.
- Do not pressure attendees after they set a boundary or change their status.
- Respect accessibility and comfort preferences. They are not optional flavor text.
- No stalking, following, or repeated unwanted contact in halls, DMs, or meetups.
- Encounter logging is for memories, not surveillance.
Photos and imagery
Ask when a profile says to ask. Do not take or share photos that violate venue rules or personal boundaries.
- No non-consensual photography or creepshots.
- No using gallery or profile uploads to shame or expose someone.
- Credit creators and suitmakers when you share work that involves them.
Content standards (all uploads)
This applies everywhere: avatars, banners, gallery photos, badge imagery, meetup images, and profile media.
Distasteful or inappropriate imagery is not allowed on SonaSync.
- No explicit sexual content or fetish imagery.
- No graphic violence, gore, or shock content.
- No hate symbols or harassment imagery.
- No discriminatory or dehumanizing content.
- Keep convention spaces fun and approachable for a wide range of attendees.
Real-world safety
- Do not impersonate convention staff, security, vendors, or official accounts.
- Do not post private hotel rooms, room numbers, or precise location info meant to expose someone.
- Do not doxx attendees or share contact info without permission.
- Meetups must be good-faith social plans. No bait-and-switch, harassment campaigns, or unsafe gatherings.
- Report behavior that could put someone in danger on-site or online.
Harassment and hate
We do not tolerate slurs, threats, targeted harassment, or dogpiling.
Debate and playful con banter are fine. Malice is not.
How moderation works
Reports are reviewed by humans who understand convention culture.
Actions may include content removal, feature limits, or account suspension depending on severity.
We may preserve evidence for safety investigations.
Repeat or severe violations can result in permanent removal.
Reporting
If something feels wrong on the floor or on SonaSync, report it. Include context when you can.
For immediate danger at a venue, contact convention security or local emergency services first.
